Today I taught the lesson that I think every teacher who comes to Korea tackles pretty early on, which is to completely erase the phrase "Fine, thank you, and you?" from students' minds. Anyway, I taught one class the word "dude," as in "Hey dude, what's up?" Later, as I was walking around the classroom one of my students stopped me to tell me, "You know, I know that song!" He cleared his throat and started singing: "Hey dude, don't let me down....take a sad soooong, and make it better." You know, I've been lamenting the loss of my students from last semester, but I think my new ones might be OK.
